Caroline Parfitt

Owner and Director

Hello, I’m Caroline, founder and director of Oak Therapies and a qualified specialist OT. This place grew out of my two greatest passions: Occupational Therapy and sharing our beautiful family home with the community. Back in 2011, my husband and I moved into the bungalow that has since become Oak Therapies, and in 2020 my dream of turning it into a therapeutic haven finally became reality. It’s a space built on kindness, nature, and a fair bit of horse hair!

My journey has taken me from Tenterden—where I grew up riding ponies as a Kentish country girl—to working across forensic hospitals, schools, adoption services, and even serving on advisory boards for Kent Police. I’ve always been drawn to roles that focus on care, whether supporting children with autism, managing therapy teams, or building services that last long after I’ve moved on. Along the way, I’ve developed expertise in sensory integration, eco-sensory therapy, and mindfulness, bringing all these threads together to create meaningful, evidence-based therapy.

These days, my biggest passion is equine therapy, horses have been my companions since childhood, and I now use my herd therapeutically to support children and adults. Watching the  therapeutic differences they make, reminds me daily why Oak Therapies exists. For me, it’s all about creating a space where people can grow as strongly as the oak trees that inspired our name.
